Todd Helming, Minister of Music
Todd has been serving as Minister of Music at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church since fall of 2006. In this time Todd has started a number of new choirs and initiated a highly successful community based concert series. Todd has experience and expertise working with choral groups of all ages. For three years he was serving as Connecticut’s Northern Region Middle School Festival Choir coordinator. In 2011 he was elected as the Northern Region Director for both Middle and High School. As part of this position, Todd will be a member of the Connecticut Music Education Association’s Executive Board. Todd has been a music teacher at the Middle School of Plainville since 2003. He was recognized as Plainville’s 2009 Teacher of the Year. Most recently he received a national award from SBO magazine as Connecticut’s 2011 “Director who makes a Difference”. Todd is also the performance director for the Farmington based Multicultural Arts program. Todd received a Master’s Degree in Music Education from the University of Connecticut in 2005. In 2002 Todd completed a Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education at the Eastman School of Music in Rochester, New York.
